Mizoram Home Minister R Lalzirliana Served Show-cause Notice

Mizoram Home Minister R Lalzirliana is being asked to show cause by the Congress disciplinary committee and has asked him to explain the speeches he had made. This has happened as a result of some internal party conflicts in the state.

The speech he made contained some anti-party statements wherein he had mentioned that he has received several offers from the political parties of the state for the upcoming assembly election. In fact, the largest opposition party in the state Mizo National Front Nominee committee too has included him in the list of their official candidates for the upcoming election.

The show cause notice given to the party vice president and state Home Minister reads like this, “Media reports suggesting your alliance with the Mizo National Front perplexed the family of Mizoram Congress. Hence, the disciplinary committee asked you to explain your stand as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against you before 3 pm on September 14.”

However, reacting to the show cause notice sent to him, Lalzirliana addressed the media at his residence and said, “Who are these people to show caused me? Where are they when I give all my life for the growth of this political party in the state? I have been in this party for more than a decade and I felt a deep pain by the actions of the disciplinary committee, maybe they have words from the top notch of the party.”

Amidst all the chaos in the Mizoram Congress, a few things have come to light that makes many things clear. According to internal sources R Lalzirliana and Lal Thanhawla, who happens to be the chief minister of the state and president of Mizoram Congress as well, are not on best terms. The ministers are in bitter terms due to the unfulfilled district status promise made by Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi.
