Mob burns down house of murder accused

BONGAIGAON, June 12:  Tension prevailed here after irate mob set ablaze the house of a murder accused today at Ulupara area. The angry people set the house of Prab Rai , who was arrested by police on Thursday on charges of his involvement in the murder of businessman Nirmal Rai of Hatimura area here. Trader Nirmal Rai was allegedly murdered by Prab six days back.      Sources said  Prab Rai , 22, son of Akan Rai had an illicit affair  with Nirmal’s wife Chanda Ray and to marry her , he committed the murder.  “Nirmal was murdered  in his house in the night of June 6 while he was alone in his home. His wife went to her mother’s house in Jogighopa that day. We came to know that this fellow was involved in the murder of Nirmal,” police sources said.   After hour long interrogation, police arrested Prab on Thursday.  Immediately after the news of his arrest spread, angry villagers rushed to his house and set it ablaze. Bongaigaon police , who reached the spot following the incident , brought the situation under control.
