Moderate shower from morning till afternoon throws life out of gear in Dibrugarh town

Dibrugarh: A long spell of moderate shower on Wednesday that lasted from morning till afternoon threw many areas of Dibrugarh town out of gear. The residents living in the areas like Bagchipara and ones near Santipara Rail Gate were seen struggling while pursuing their routine activities. The urban flooding can be largely attributed to the careless and irresponsible outlook of certain sections of people who ended up clogging the big and small drains by dumping all kinds of waste into them. There are also reports of illegal constructions above the drains in certain areas of the town. As a matter of fact, the district administration had recently dismantled such unlawful commercial establishments and places of residence that were built over the Dibrugarh Town Protection Drain near Running Gate.
