Modi Government's Blame to Congress has an Expiry Date: Priyanka Gandhi

Guwahati: Congress General Secretary in-charge of East Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi attacked the Narendra Modi government asking it to stop blaming the Congress-led governments of the past to cover up its own failures.

Priyanka on her three-day visit to Uttar Pradesh said on Tuesday said that their argument that what did they do in 70 years has an expiry date. She said that now is the time that BJP should tell what they have done in the five years during which they have been in power. She also dismissed BJP's allegations that the Congress-led government in the past are responsible for the problems the country is facing today.

Gandhi on her visit to Uttar Pradesh met party leaders in Bhadohi and asked them to work hard on the ground into the Lok Sabha election. She said that people are not satisfied with the Modi government and would vote against it in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. "People will change the government in 2019 as they are not satisfied with the present government. Farmers, youths, women are not at all happy with the government and they will change the government together," she added.

Gandhi kicked off a three-day party campaign in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha polls and the campaign will end in Varanasi. Uttar Pradesh to go for polling in all the seven phases between April 11 and May 19.

Gandhi, while speaking to media in Bhadohi also rejected UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's claim that the state has progressed vastly in the last two years. Rejecting the claim, she said that report card, promotions all sounds good but there is nothing on the ground. She said that she had met the people and all are in distress.

Gandhi has a daunting task of turning the fortunes of the Congress Party in the state as a general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh as the state's performance over the last several national polls has been underwhelming.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath earlier blamed the Congress for the backwardness of the state and claimed that the Congress-ruled state for the maximum time period after independence and in return the party gave the state designation of a 'BIMARU' state.
