Modi Making It To New Delhi Is Absolutely Certain: Sarbananda Sonowal

GUWAHATI: On the last day of poll campaign for the third phase of Lok Sabha election in Assam, a beaming Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has said with absolute certainty that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make it to New Delhi again.

Rallies and bike rallies by BJP leaders and cadres rent the air in Gauhati Lok Sabha constituency on Sunday till the campaign came to an end by 5 pm. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal himself addressed a rally at Barenghati in the constituency, besides flagging off a bike rally in the city. The ruling party also took out another bike rally that was participated by party MLA Angurlata Deka Gauhati and candidate Queen Oja.

The rally that was flagged of by the Chief Minister at Khanapara Veterinary College field in Guwahati followed the main thoroughfares of the city. He was accompanied by AGP president Atul Bora, State Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattcharya and BJP’s national president and Assam in-charge Mahendra Singh. While flagging off the rally, Sonowal said: “Prime Minister making it to New Delhi again (akou ebar Modi sarkar) is absolutely certain. The people of Assam are spontaneously coming out to support the Prime Minister and the BJP. Enthusiasm among the people is clearly visible. They’re supporting the Prime Minister and the BJP for a bright future of Assam under him and his party. We’re more than certain to retain the Gauhati seat, and our alliance partners set to wrest the other three seats going to poll in this phase.”

The bike rally took its course from Khanapara GS Road to Fancy Bazar vis GS Road, Bharalumukh, Gauhati High Court, Gauhati Club, Chandmari, RG Baruah Road, Ganeshguri and Christianbasti before being terminated at SB Duarah College.

Addressing an election rally at Barenghati in Hajo under Gauhati constituency, Sonowal said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking steps for the development of youths. The process of nation building has been made stronger and faster under the Prime Minister. This is the reason why youths are supporting him. India’s position has been elevated among the countries of the world under Modi. The Prime Minister is laying stress on developing youths in interior Assam and the Northeast so as to make them develop in consonance with their counterparts in rest of Infia. In the past five years, Assam and other States in the Northeast received much from the Centre.”

Hitting out at the Congress and the AIUDF, Sonowal said: “These two are communal parties. They’re out for divisive politics. On the contrary, the present Central and the State governments have taken all-acceptable steps and policies so as to make the nation and the State stronger.”

Sonowal further said: “Even after 55 years of Congress rule, many areas in Assam are still backward. How come this happens? Now the youths of these interior areas are to be developed so as to make them stride on a par with their counterparts in rest of India.”

Earlier, the BJP took out another bike rally from SB Duarah College with the participation of party MLA Angulata Deka and party’s Gauhati candidate Queen Oja. The bike rally followed the course from SB Duarah College to Ganeshguri and Six Mile where it took a U-turn and terminated at Lachit Nagar via GS Road.

Meanwhile, at a joint press meet of the BJP, AGP and the BPF at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan later in the day, leaders of the three parties said that the alliance is set to win all the 14 Lok Sabha seats of Assam this time. The press meet was attended, among others, by two State BJP spokespersons Rupan Goswami and Subhas Dutta, two AGP spokespersons Suhsil Deka and Tularam Gogoi and BPF general secretary Prabin Boro.
