Motorcycles stolen, thieves nabbed by Sivasagar Police

JOYSAGAR: Unidentified bike lifters stole two motorcycles from Sivasagar town on Monday night. As per information, one Hero bike (AS-04-U-6274) owned by Arup Baruah of Phukan Nagar was stolen by bike lifters.

Another Hero bike (AS-04-S-5067) owned by one Rahul Moran, a resident of the ONGC main gate area of the town, was stolen by suspected car lifters on Monday night. The victims have lodged FIRs.

Meanwhile, in another incident of burglary, the Sivasagar Police booked as many as four suspected youths from different areas of the town on Tuesday. Sources informed that the youths were being watched by the police for a long time and the police suspected the group to be responsible for many burglaries which took place in the town recently. Besides, the Excise Department conducted raids on Sunday night in the Salaguri, Joysagar, Na-Ali, Chapahigaon, Bogidol, Dorikapara, Cherekapara, NH-37 area, Sukanphukori, Betbari, Banmukh and Namti Lunpuria area and busted many illegal liquor shops and gambling dens.
