MS Dhoni’s unbeatable performance makes India win first bilateral ODI series in Australia

Guwahati: With an unbeaten 87 rendered from the Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India made sure that it makes a clear win over the hosts Australia by winning the third and decisive ODI. The third match between Indian and Australia was held in Melbourne on Friday wherein Dhoni scored 87 not out and Kedar Jadhav scored 61.

The unbeaten 121-run partnership of the Dhoni-Jadhav pair led India to set a tricky 231-run target for the kangaroos. The match witnessed Dhoni making his third half-century in the series. Although the beginning of the match was not so satisfactory for team India with Rohit Sharma bidding farewell early, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli took charge of the match and led the run to a stable state to further hand it over to Dhoni with Jadhav for finishing the innings on a satisfactory note.

Notably, this becomes the first bilateral ODI to be won by team India on the Australian soil and finally, the Men in Blue made that possible this time. Before this, they had won the 1985 World Championship of Cricket and 2008 CB Series in Australia. With this ODI series win. India’s tour to Australia turns fruitful enough with also witnessing MS Dhoni coming back into form and being declared as the ‘Man of the Tournament’.
