Museum to honour Bhupenda proposed

GUWAHATI, June 26: To honor Dr Bhupen Hazarika and his contribution to the state, a museum is to be constructed at Dr Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Kshetra near Gauhati University at Jalukbari. The construction of the museum is expected to be completed within a couple of months.

According to the officials, “This museum is built to honor the great maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika. Even now, people from different places visit the Samadhi Kshetra.” At present, the memorial comprises of a dome that has a library with an auditorium, a life-size statue of Dr Bhupen Hazarika alongside a microphone-pen-shaped statue.

The students are also seen using the library at the Samadhi Kshetra. The officials are hoping that more number of tourists visit the Samadhi Kshetra after the museum is completely built.
