'Museum-Walk-Through' inaugurated

DIGBOI April 20: In its continued efforts to beautify the historic oil town of Digboi, a Museum-Walk-Through was inaugurated here on Thursday afternoon at Digboi by Sukla Mistry, the Unit Head of Digboi refinery in the presence of a host of AOD officials and representatives of Indian Oil Officers’ Association and AOC Labour Union.

The corporate communications team at AOD Digboi took upon the task of refurbishing the path leading to this cradle of oil heritage centenary museum. The team worked with locally available resources and artists to create the various progressive historical events as ‘Wall Murals’. Artistic reflections of a growth of living culture of the region with thriving nature, nature’s bounties, music, sports, literature have also been engraved all along the road to  museum. The Museum-Walk-through enhances the visitor’s experience and supports convenient graphic narration of the oil history and its centenary journey.

Digboi Centenary Museum was set up in year 2001 to commemorate the 100 years of Digboi Refinery. Strategically located adjacent to the Digboi Oil-field and built around the famous Oil Discovery Well No 1, Digboi Centenary Museum has become a hugely popular landmark among visitors specifically, the younger generation. The daily footfall at the museum has also grown over the years.
