Music Knows No Boundaries: Singer Tulsi Kumar

Tulsi Kumar Ralhan, popularly known as Tulsi Kumar is an Indian playback singer cum actress. Tulsi Kumar, who has sung a duet with Pakistani singer Atif Aslam for a forthcoming Bollywood film, says music connects people universally and it has the power to connect countries together. Tulsi has sung “Paniyon sa” with Atif in the John Abraham-starred, “Satyameva Jayate”.

What does it mean for her to have sung with a Pakistani artiste at a time when collaborative art/music between India and Pakistan is far and few? To this she replied, “I actually believe music has no boundaries and that’s the beauty of any kind of art. I had collaborated with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Sahab back in 2010 for one of the biggest tracks of my career ‘Tum jo aaye zindagi mein’. Now, it’s the collaboration with Atif Aslam for “Paniyon sa.”

The singer said that one should not have personal issues of the countries involved with music. Music is free from boundaries and it sees no difference between the two countries. She thinks that music is something which connects people and their emotions worldwide. She went on to express that it is great to collaborate with various talented artists irrespective of the country they belong to.

"Let the music do all the talking and healing and bring the countries together,” Tulsi added.

“Satyameva Jayate”, which is slated to release on August 15, 2018, marks two firsts for Tulsi: firstly, a song with Atif; and lastly, singing a romantic Sufi track “Tere jaisa”. Excited and joyous Tulsi expressed how these songs are very special to her, and especially, the Sufi track is something that she’s done for the first time.

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was a learning experience for me,” she added. Tulsi is the daughter of late Indian music mogul Gulshan Kumar. A biopic on Gulshan Kumar is in the process.

As truly and aptly she pointed out that music is a power and the voice of the soul that connects people (souls) and cannot be bound. It knows no discriminating factors, be it caste, creed, race, colour, etc. or the country. Music is music. It connects with a person’s heart. We totally agree with Tulsi.
