Rangia, May 13: The All Assam Joint Muster Roll Labour Union will start agitation after May 30 unless the State government fulfils their long-pending demands. This was resolved in a general meeting of the union held at Rangia Raijmel Krishak Swahid Bhavan on Sunday.

The meeting was presided over by MD Azir Ali, president of the union. The union demanded that the jobs of muster roll labourers should be regularized and the verdict of the Gauhati High Court passed on June 6, 2017 should be honoured.

According to the verdict, all the muster roll, casual and fixed pay labourers who have been serving since the last 10 years without gap should be paid fourth grade salary and provided all the facilities given to government employees. But after almost one year of the verdict, the State government has been silent on this issue, alleged the union members. They urged the government to fulfil their long-pending demands at the earliest otherwise they would have no other option but to start agitation again.
