Naba Doley likely to be new President of Assam Football Association

GUWAHATI: The Annual General Meeting of the Assam Football Association will be held at the Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium here tomorrow. The meeting will also constitute the new executive committee of the organization.

Although it is expected that there would be no contest in the president and the secretary post but election may be held in a few other posts as there are more than one candidates expressed willingness to contest.

A source from the Assam Football Association today informed The Sentinel that . Panchayat and Rural Development (Independent), Cultural Affairs etc Minister Naba Kumar Doley is all set to take the chair of president while Hemendra Nath Brahma, the current president, will be the new secretary of the organization.

The source also added: “The current secretary Ankur Dutta and Treasurer Dhansing Rongpi won’t be able to contest this time as the Governing Body of the Assam Football Association, which meet today in the city, instructed them to stay away from election process because of not submitting financial reports of earlier years in proper way.”
