Support for Dzükou

KOHIMA: The recent declaration of ‘Plastic Free Zone Dzükou’ an initiative of Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO), found support from Earth Day Network, a global environment NGO that grew out of the first Earth Day (April 22, 1970) and engages with over 50,000 organizations in around 190 countries. Earth Day Network, Regional Director, South Asia, Karuna A Singh congratulated SAYO on the work being done in declaring Dzükou valley as plastic free zone.

Poshan Abhiyaan

KOHIMA: A meeting for formulating a action plan on Poshan Abhiyaan under Mon block was held at the SDO (C) Mon office chamber. SDO (C) Mon, Chumlamo Humtsoe who chaired the meeting, requested the departments for cooperation and support for the success of the programme. CDPO Mon, Tongwang Yanlem highlighted on the Poshan Abhiyaan programme and the activities. He said that the goal is to achieve improvement in nutritional status of children from 0-6 years, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers, stated a DIPR release.

Water conservation

KOHIMA: Block Nodal Officer for Jal Shakti Abhiyan Ashwini Kumar and Dr Surjit Singh visited Longleng district from July 9 to 13 and had various meetings with the line departments and visited many villages in the district. Jai Shakti Abhiyan is a water conservation campaign. A preliminary meeting was conducted with the Deputy Commissioner, Longleng July 10 at the DC’s conference hall. John Tsulise Sangtam highlighted the purpose of the meeting to the line departments and conveyed the problems of the district to the central team, stated a DIPR release.

Youth programme

KOHIMA: A tribal youth cultural exchange programme organized by TRI (Department of Art & Culture and Planning and Coordinator Department) was held at the Town Hall in Tuensang on Monday. EAC Tuensang Ruokuosetuo Tetso was the special guest of the event. Speaking on the occasion, Tetso said that we are living in a transitional period where modern technologies are overshadowing our rich culture and traditions. Organizing such a event is a fine example and a step towards preserving our rich culture and traditions, he added, stated a DIPR release.
