Wokha DC complex declared tobacco free

KOHIMA: SDO (C), Wokha, Chonpenthung Ezung in an official notification informed that the Deputy Commission complex has been declared as "Tobacco Free Zone". In this regard, all officers have been requested to enforce the said notification and initiate action against any defaulters under the relevant section and to check compliance by all. Some of the guidelines for compliance include "you are entering into the tobacco-free zone", "taking tobacco products inside the premise/ building is prohibited". A box should be placed at each entry gate of the building and any person who possesses any tobacco products should put in the box before entering into the premise. A board will also be displayed containing the following warning: Use of any form of tobacco in this premise is prohibited and is a punishable offence with fine up to Rs 200 in English or one Indian language as applicable, stated a DIPR release.

Camp for children with special needs

KOHIMA: a district level assessment camp for children with special needs was organized by the district Mission Authority (DMA), Kiphire, in collaboration with Starkey New Delhi, Medical Department and Social Welfare Department at EBRC hall, Kiphire town on Wednesday. The assessment camp was conducted for children with special needs for visually impaired, locomotors disability, hearing impairment problems. Assistive devices were provided to all the special needs children as per after the assessment camp. Deputy Mission director, SSA, Talitemsu Jamir in his short speech called upon all the beneficiary to utilize their assistive devices with care and opined that the camp will be a blessing for all the beneficiaries. Around 100 children with special needs got their assistive devices on the spot, stated a DIPR stated.

MoU signed

KOHIMA: Rev Fr Dr Sebastian Ousepparampil, Principal of St Joseph College, Jakhama and Anirban Mukherjee, Operations Manager, India & International – Emporium Skill Training Institute (ESTI), signed an MoU on Wednesday at the Bishops House, Dimapur. ESTI and St Joseph College will together screen/select the aspiring students who are currently pursuing their graduation in the college for the hospitality, aviation and cruise-line sectors. The selected students will be given skill development training in the mentioned sectors along with employment opportunities in world-class global international luxury premium five-star hotels, airlines and cruises. St Joseph College and ESTI is also planning to start a diploma programme which will be jointly certified by the college and ESTI. ESTI is also going to open a new PMKVY Skill Training Centre within the college premises, stated a DIPR release.

DPDB meeting

KOHIMA; Vice Chairman DPDB & Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Dr Manazir Jeelani Samoon, has informed that the monthly District Planning and Development Board meeting for the month of May will be held on May 28 at the Deputy Commissioner Hall at 11:00 am.
