DLTOT held for Economic Census

KOHIMA: A district-level training of trainers (DLTOT) for the 7th Economic Census 2019 was held at the DC's Conference hall in Mon on Saturday. Mon DC Thavaseelan K stated that the Economic Census is the complete count of all establishments/units located within the geographical boundaries of the country. "The non-farm economic activities carried out in the country have tremendous diversity in terms of organization and management. They are carried out by units registered or licensed under various laws and regulations or by self-employed/own account establishments that are not registered or licensed. The Economic Census aims to capture the non-farm activities in terms of all its major dimensions", he said. He further mentioned that the data collected will be a crucial input for policy making at all levels. Mugalo Kath, Inspector of Statistics, Mon, presented an overview of the Economic Census, stated a DIPR release.

Graduation ceremony

KOHIMA: The graduation ceremony-cum-induction for the nine-month Diploma in School Counselling organized by State Council of Education Research & Training (SCERT) Nagaland was held at the SIEMAT Conference hall in Kohima on Saturday. Advisor IPR, SCERT & Home Guards, Toshi Wungtung said that the school counselling course will contribute in policy-making in the government and also take society forward in the field of education. He said that the course will contribute for a better future and that the graduating teachers will be the pioneering torch bearers in moulding society for a better tomorrow. Wungtung opined that counselling in education is a very important ingredient in building the career of students and it is a long-term investment, stated a DIPR release.

Rio wishes Mansukh

KOHIMA: Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio wished Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Shipping and MoS for Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh L Mandaviya on his birthday on Saturday. In a tweet, Rio wished him good health, happiness and a successful tenure. Mansukh L Mandaviya, BJP MP from Gujarat was in the news recently for pedalling all the way to Rashtrapati Bhavan on a cycle to take his oath. Mandaviya, 48, has become a minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government for a second time, stated a DIPR release.

Tobacco products banned

KOHIMA: Mon DC Thavaseelan K in an order issued on Friday stated that use of tobacco products not only affects the health of the users but also pollutes the surroundings. In accordance with the Sections 21, 24, 25 of the Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003 of the Central Government, any tobacco products or intoxicants is being banned within the DC's office premises. Further, all Officers, staff and general public have been directed to obey this order failing which, a fine of Rs 100 shall be imposed for the first offence and Rs 200 shall be imposed for subsequent offences on the spot. Head DB, Mon, has been directed to detail DBs on rotation basis to conduct thorough checking at the entrance of the office building and also enforce its penal provision as mentioned. Fines so collected should be deposited to the cashier by maintaining proper records. The SDO (Civil) Sadar shall supervise enforcement of this order and arrange for display of signboards and posters on the walls of the office building, stated a DIPR release.

SSA training meet

KOHIMA: Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), District Mission Authority, Zunheboto, held a community mobilization training on Friday and Saturday at the VDB hall. This was the fourth of the five block level-on training programme. It was attended in good numbers by teachers, VEC chairmen, GBs, village council members, ZAPO members, women organizations, student bodies among others. In the first session of the inaugural programme, administrative officer, Litsen Kikon urged all the representatives to be sincere in materializing the government's initiative of 'Right To Education' (RTE) from the grassroots, which would bear great riches for our future generation as a whole, stated a DIPR release.
