Governor calls on Amit Shah, interacts with NAP officers

KOHIMA: Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his official residence in New Delhi on Sunday. Governor Acharya congratulated Shah on being appointed as the new the Home Minister and wished his the best. Governor Acharya also met with police officers of the Nagaland Armed Police (NAP) stationed at Nagaland House in New Delhi. He encouraged the officers to perform their duties without fail and to make Nagaland proud. The NAP Officers were led by Deputy Commandant 7th NAP, Khriebeinuo Kense and Deputy Commandant 8th NAP H Achumi. The meeting was followed by lunch which was hosted by the Governor, stated a DIPR release.

DIPR declared plastic, tobacco free zone

KOHIMA: The Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Kohima, has been declared 'Plastic free and Tobacco free zone'. A short programme was held at the DIPR conference hall on Monday where all the employees headed by the Director, IPR, voluntarily and unanimously decided to ban single-use plastics in the office premises and also declare the zone as tobacco free. Every officer and staff of the directorate resolved to take it upon themselves to implement this decision and impress upon visitors to cooperate with the initiative. To facilitate the decision, Aquaguard water purifiers have been installed in all the floors of the office building where employees are encouraged to bring their own water bottles. The staff also volunteered to abstain from bringing and using plastic bags in the office, stated a release.

Economic Census training

KOHIMA: Training for the enumerators and supervisors for the 7th Economic Census was conducted at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall in Wokha on Monday. Wokha Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, District Level Coordination Committee Dr Manazir Jeelani Samoon while addressing the trainees stressed on the need to understand the importance of the Economic Census because in implementation of any planning process, developmental activities, schemes and policies of the Government, statistical data are taken into consideration and are planned out basing on the census data. He urged the supervisors and enumerators to undertake their assigned responsibilities with outmost sincerity for the success of the economic census. District Economics & Statistical Officer, Wokha, presented the overview of Economic Census 2019 to the trainees. District Manager, Common Services Centre (CSC-SPV) Chenibemo Ngullie enlightened the trainees about the Walk True-app, stated a DIPR release.

Bag-making centre

KOHIMA: The Wokha district administration in collaboration with Lotha Eloe Hoho donated seven sewing machines and materials as one-time assistance for cloth bag making. The cloth bag-making centre was inaugurated by the Wokha Deputy Commissioner, Dr Manazir Jeelani Samoon on Monday. The bag-making centre is initiated as an alternative livelihood and also as an alternative to support the Government policy to restrict the use of plastic. The DC stating this centre as a welcoming step during the inaugural speech said that it is a small contribution from district administration and Wokha Town Council so that some can get meaningful employment and earn livelihood out of this centre. He also added the cloth bag made at the centre can be a better alternative to plastic bags, stated a DIPR release.

Mokokchung DPDB meet

KOHIMA: The monthly meeting of Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) for the month of June will be held on June 7 at the Conference Hall of ADC (Planning), Mokokchung from 11 am. The meeting will be chaired by the DPDB Mokokchung chairman and all the legislatures from Mokokchung district has consented to attend the meeting, stated DIPR release.

Awareness programme

KOHIMA: The Mahila Shakti Kendra Longleng along with the district task force (DTF) BBBP conducted an advocacy campaign on women issues and schemes on at Yongphang & Pongo village under Sakshi Block on Monday. P Phungla Phom, WWO MSK, Longleng, emphasized on issues and schemes related to women and the girl child. She also encouraged the women folks, especially pregnant women and lactating mothers to avail the benefits meant for them. She also enlightened the people on various schemes and offices like One Stop Centre, Women helpline (181), Sukanya Samriddhi Account, POSCO Act, Poshan Abhiyaan and MSK (DLCW). A special session was also held where problems of women and the girl child were discussed, stated a DIPR release.
