IMA organises free M at Zunheboto

KOHIMA: The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Nagaland State branch organised for the first time in Zunheboto district a 'Free Laparoscopic surgical and Gynaecology workshop cum CME' at Hezukhu Memorial hospital and Rochill hospital Zunheboto recently, stated a release. The team of doctors was led by Dr. Kezevituo Keditsu (Gynaecologist, Putuonuo nursing home, Kohima and Indian Medical Association President, Nagaland), Dr. Victo A Wotsa (Gynaecologist and MD Nikos Hospital Dimapur). Along with Doctors from Zunheboto district, Dr. Tseilhoutuo Angami (Surgeon, Kohima), Dr. Keneilhoulie Medom (Anaesthetists, Kohima), Dr. Imsulemba Jamir (Anaesthetists, Mokokchung) and Dr. Aoakum Kichu Radio oncologist Eden hospital Dimapur participated in the free Laparoscopic surgical camp. Around 38 patients availed the surgery. They expressed gratitude to the Doctors and IMA for organising such programmes and hoped that similar programmes are held every year so that the poor and downtrodden can avail such opportunities.

Meet of Surumi & Longsa villagers

KOHIMA: A joint meeting and feast exchange programme was held between Surumi village of Zunheboto district and Longsa Village of Mokokchung district at Surumi village recently, stated a release. The meeting was held to mark the friendship between the two villages for peaceful coexistence. This has been practised in turns by the two neighbouring villages since their forefathers. The meeting was held to further strengthen the bond between the two villages. Earlier, the Longsa villagers were accorded a warm welcome by the Surumi villagers. The speakers on behalf of Surumi village were Kheniho Aye, HD GB Surumi village and Er. Shikato Jakhalu, Additional Chief Engineer, Power and on behalf of Longsa village, Alemtemshi Jamir, IAS retired Chief Secretary Government of Nagaland and L. Imti. Short speeches were also delivered by Shetoyi Sumi, former MLA and Hekushe Shikhu, President Sumi Hoho. Folk songs were also presented on the occasion.

Fire awareness training at Kiphire

KOHIMA: In observance of the National Fire Service Day, the Department of Fire, Kiphire conducted one-day fire awareness at public ground Kiphire. The programme was attended by school children and three staff each from all departments. Kevizelhou Chupuo, officer in charge Fire and Emergency Service Kiphire stated that the training programme is being organised to sensitize and enable the public on their responsibilities in time of fire emergency. Addressing the gathering Vikhoto ASI said that most fire incidents occur due to carelessness and lack of knowledge about the cause of fire. He said in case of encountering smoke during evacuation one should stay low in the floor. Various demonstrations on how to safely evacuate injured patients during fire emergency were also given. The programme was chaired by Martin Miasalhou, Sub Inspector, stated a release.
