Nagaland University Ranked 12th in Research and Innovation Category

In a current ranking of central universities based in India, Nagaland University has been able to obtain the 12^th position in research and innovation category amongst the 40 central universities. This ranking is being provided on the basis of an assessment conducted by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development.

In the category of National Institutional Ranking Framework 2018 (Assessment Year: 2017) as well, the university has secured 95th position. In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (Assessment Year: 2015), the university begged 227th position.

While briefing the university’s performance in its 24th foundation day, the vice chancellor of the university Prof Pardeshi Lal disclosed it to the students on Thursday.

The ministry of human resource development ranks the Indian institutions of higher education in this National Institutional Ranking Framework to highlight their performances and to point out the scope of improvements left for these institutions.

The vice-chancellor of the university also said that apart from teaching, research and innovation, the Nagaland University was leading in the flagship programmes like Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Digital India and Swachch Bharat etc.

It further reveals that the university has signed a tripartite MoU with the University Grant Commission and the ministry of human resource development as well. This MoU is done for measuring the performance of the university on selected key parameters against the targets and this will help the university in improving its performance.

The “17-by-17 Action Plan” of the ministry of human resource development too is being talked about by Prof Lal. He said that the university has taken up this action plan along with the Higher Education Financing Agency as this will now provide loans to the University for capital expenditure.
