Narendra Modi, Amit Shah to campaign in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP’s national president Amit Shah will campaign in Arunachal Pradesh, which is going to simultaneous polls for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections on April 11. According to party sources here, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is also schedule to address a few election rallies here.

The ruling party would field candidates in all the 60 Assembly constituencies along with two candidates for the Eastern and Western Parliamentary constituencies. For two Lok Sabha seats, there are only two names, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju (West parliamentary constituency) and State’s BJP president Tapir Gao (East parliamentary constituency). Rijiju won the seat in 2014 defeating his nearest rival Takam Sanjoy of the Congress by a margin of 41, 738 votes while Gao tasted defeat to his nearest rival Ninong Ering of the Congress by a margin of 12,478 votes. The party has announced that it will have not pre-poll tie-ups with any political party this time.
