National People’s Party candidate Agatha Sangma slams Congress on ties with Bharatiya Janata Party

SHILLONG: National People’s Party (NPP) candidate from Tura Parliamentary constituency Agatha Sangma has stated that the allegations made by the Congress that the NPP is working together with the BJP will not affect her vote share.

“The people of Garo Hills still trust me and I’m confident that with their support that they have given me I will turn out victorious on May 23. The Congress do not have issues to talk about hence they are accusing the NPP of having ties with the BJP and this is completely false,” Sangma said while speaking to The Sentinel.

She said, “If the NPP had ties with the BJP then the saffron party would not have fielded a candidate in both Shillong and Tura Parliamentary constituencies.

“The people have also seen my work during my time as an MP from Tura constituency, hence I trust the people to give me a positive result on May 23,” she said.

She also said that the electorates of Garo Hills are intelligent and they will not be misled by these false and baseless allegations by the Congress against me and my party.
