National Register of Citizens: Claims & objections end

Online correction of names from January 2

GUWAHATI: The crucial claim-and-objection stage of NRC (National Register of Citizens) update concluded on Monday. However, another crucial phase – online correction of names in complete draft NRC – is going to start from Wednesday (January 2, 2019). Offline correction of names is underway.

Online correction of names in the draft NRC was earlier supposed to start in December. However, due to some technical reasons, the NRC authority is going to start the process from January 2. Both offline and online correction of names in draft NRC will continue till January 31, 2019. NRC authority is laying stress on online correction of names. For online correction, one has to visit the website nrcassam.nic.in that has a link reading ‘ONLINE NRC DRAFT CORRECTION PORTAL’.

The total numbers of claims and objections received could not be ascertained. Till two days back, while the number of objections was around 600, the number of claims was around 30 lakh. All claims and objections will be heard from February 15, 2019.
