Nationalist People Party Threatens To Snap Ties With BJP

Shillong: A day after the BJP president Amit Shah stated that the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) will be re-introduced if comes back to power, the Nationalist People Party (NPP) reiterated that it will break all ties with it ally.

Amit Shah in his speech in Lakhimpur, Assam, spoke with determination about the re-introduction of the legislation which the entire North Eastern States have been looking with horror. Reacting to the BJP president’s comments, Meghalaya Home Minister and NPP leader James K Sangma told newsmen on Monday, “I will not comment on what Amit Shah is talking about but we will keep on opposing the bill in whatever format it comes”.

“The CAB is harmful to our region; we have unitedly fought against it and we will continue to fight no matter what”, Sangma stated, even as he referred to the NPP National president and Meghalaya Chief Minister’s assertion that if such a bill is passed breaking of ties with the NDA is imminent.
