From our Correspondent

TINSUKIA, March 11: Nikhil Bharat Banga Sahitya Sammelon (NBBSS), North-East State Committee has strongly condemned vandalism of AASU office at Silapathar by some people and demanded stringent punishment to the guilty people through an independent inquiry, stated a press release of NBBSS issued by Bidhan Chandra Deb Roy, secretary, North-East Committee on Friday. The release called upon the government to keep a close eye so as to prevent any sort of harassment on innocent people living in Assam.

The press release stated that the NBBSS always supported the legalized demand of granting citizenship to Hindu Bengalis through democratic means, but it did not support creation of unpleasant situations by defying law and destabilizing integrity and brotherhood among different communities living in Assam. The release added further that those people who were involved in the dastardly act could not be in any way well-wishers of Bengalis living in Assam. The Sammelon also demanded to inquire the circumstances that led to such a situation, besides it believed that a strong evil force was behind this incident.
