NCHAC gets its first woman chairperson

Haflong, June 13: Ranu Langthasa was elected unopposed as the chairperson of the NC Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) at the special session called by the pro-term chairman Sauthangjem Hrangkhol, as ordered by the Assam Governor on Monday.

Dima Hasao gets its first woman chairperson with Ranu Langthasa being appointed to the post since the formation of N C Hills Autonomous Council in the year 1951. After assuming office, Langthasa, while expressing happiness on being elected unopposed, said that she was hopeful for new developments to take place in the district under the leadership of the newly-elected CEM Debolal Gorlosa. She further said though it was matter of a great satisfaction but at the same time there were huge responsibilities to lead the district in the path of development with unity and integrity. She also appealed to her team along with others to work unitedly for the betterment of the district as a whole.
