Haflong, April 5: Following the decision taken in a meeting with Railway affected representatives held at Cultural Hall, Harangajao on Wednesday, the NC Hills Indigenous Students’ Forum (NCHISF) has temporarily withdrawn the proposed railway blockade till April 18. The NCHISF organized the meeting to discuss the assurance given by the Deputy Commissioner on behalf of Chief Secretary, Government of Assam,  that the State government had already discussed the compensation issue with the Railway authorities and they were ready to pay all the necessary compensation. The DC also informed that the authorities would need some more time to complete the official works to pay all the necessary compensation.

In this regard, the meeting once again decided to temporarily withdraw the proposed railway blockade till April 18. If the Railway fails to pay all the necessary compensation within 15 days as per their earlier promise, the NCHISF will stage rail blockade from April 19 till the payment of all necessary compensation.
