NE creative dressing contest 2016-17 held

GUWAHATI, Feb 13: Tender Petals organized the Grand File of North East Creative Dressing Contest (2016-17) for children between 2 and 6 years of age at District Library, Guwahati recently. Children, along with their parents, displayed their creative skills with their respective theme dresses.

The event was graced by noted Assamese Cinestar Kopil Bora as the chief guest and the judges were Sunshine Academy of Makeup & Styling director Juri Saikia, Mrs. India Earth 2016 2nd runners-up Roshni Hassan and fashion designer Megha Rai Medhi.

Apart from the contest, the event included a kids’ fashion show and dance performances by the children of Tender Petals. The contest, designed in three rounds, showcased a mesmerizing array of uniquely created attires. Children were dressed up in different concepts to showcase solidarity for Make In India campaign; Save Environment;  King and Queen; Fairy Godmother and Cindrella, Few brides and the bride’s father; Tribal attire; Yashoda and Krish; Goddess Kali; and so on. One contestant’s father had worked upon the concept of how the involvement of parents in social networking sites is reducing family time, while one mother-daughter duo portrayed the big gap between the rich and the poor.

The auditions were held in Guwahati, Tezpur, Azara, and Jorhat and the shortlisted participants came to the Grand File. There were a total of 30 participants.

It started with the parents walking with their children in the first round presenting their concepts. Those qualified, continued to the second round introducing themselves and their themes. It was followed by the shortlisted candidates moving to the third round to answer questions put forward by the judges. The questions in the last round were mostly based on parents’ perspective on the important elements of a child’s development; role of upbringing; the importance of social skills in the children, and so on.

The winner of the Title– Best dressed Preschooler 2017- was KRISHAV DAS, a student of Tender Petals Anda gar Centre, was accompanied by his father Dr. Hirak Das. The first runners-up were Ms. Aradhya Chakraborty and her father, Mr. Abhijit Chakraborty from Tender Petals, Anda gar Centre, Guwahati. The second runners-up was vya Soni and her father Mr. Rakesh Soni, from Tender Petals Tezpur Centre. The event concluded with the prize distribution by the judges and chief guests, followed by certificate and medal distribution and photo session of all contestants, a press release said.
