NE DGP, IGPs to discuss security scerio, border magement

SHILLONG, June 22: Three vital issues will be discussed in the 23rd Conference of the Northeast DGPs and Inspector General of Police (IGPs) and Heads of Central Police Organizations (CPOs) scheduled to be held in Shillong from Thursday.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Meghalaya Police spokesman GHP Raju today said that the general topics to be discussed in the conference include the security scerio in the Northeast, the inter-state and inter-departmental coordition and intertiol border magement issues.

A police source, however, said that the meet will also discuss the activities being carried out by anti-tiol groups which are active in the region.

Besides the State Police, officials from the central agencies and CAPF which are part of the ongoing maintence of law and order, counter insurgency operations and border magement activities in the region, will also attend the conference. 

The two day conclave will be attended by   Special DG, IB, New Delhi, DGP Meghalaya, DG NCB, DGP Assam, DGP Sikkim, DGP galand,   ADG Tripura, ADG Manipur and ADG West Bengal, apart from the top brass from Assam Rifles, BSF, ITBP and SSB. The conference will be iugurated by the Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.
