New Aadhaar Feature 'Masked Aadhaar' makes Aadhaar even More Secured

A new feature to make Aadhaar an even more secure experience for the users has been introduced. As stated by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), this new feature is named as ‘Masked Aadhaar’ which will enable the users to download the 12-digit eAadhaar where the last four digits of the number remain veiled.

As the first eight digits of the Aadhaar card will not be disclosed to anyone, it is believed that this new feature will ensure an even more secured Aadhaar identification for the holders. In certain particular cases where sharing the Aadhaar number is not necessary, this feature will prove to be handy.

As stated through Twitter, UIDAI says, “This is a digitally signed valid eAadhaar which can be used as the regular eAadhaar.”

This is also being added by UIDAI this feature is limited to eAadhaar. This is a digital version of the Aadhaar card and is signed by the UIDAI. However, its functions are similar to the actual Aadhaar card. This digital version, i.e., ‘Masked Aadhaar’ will be better and easier to be shared by the users now without having the fear of giving out the 12-digit Aadhaar number.

However, the only new thing about the ‘Masked Aadhaar’ is that the Aadhaar number will only be veiled. Other information such as demographic information, photograph, and QR code will still be there on the eAadhaar and can be viewed by anybody.
