New building of Utility Centre iugurated in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, February 15: The chief of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Hagrama Mohilary iugurated the newly constructed five-storey Utility Centre building near BTC Assembly recently. The new building was constructed at a cost of Rs 1.85 crore from General Administrative Department (GAD) fund of BTC and the building was handed over to the SBI and UCO Bank, Kokrajhar.

Mohilary also laid the foundation stone of the Directorate of Labour and Employment department of BTC at a cost of Rs 1.42 crore and construction of office building of Directorate of Economics and Statistics department at a cost of Rs 95.86 lakh, both near Kokrajhar Tea Estate along River Gaurang, Kokrajhar.

Mohilary, who is also the president of the BPF, said during the iugural function that his council had been working for the development of the region in all spheres and there had been a lot of change within a short span of time. He said the developmental work could have been more in the region if the State Government released the fund of State share on the basis of population pattern. He said his council would provide IAY houses to 8,000 families of BTC region every year for four years. He said the council would take necessary initiative to construct flyover in all railway crossings in BTC areas and also spend Rs. 200 crore for protection from erosion from Sonkosh in the west to Majbat in the east.

All private schools would be given fincial grants and Rs 100 crore has already been earmarked, he said, adding that the council would provide fincial aid for the construction of Bhavan and other structures for the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) and other literary bodies and social organizations of all communities.
