New generation urged to follow  ideals of Lakshmith Bezbaroa

Dibrugarh, March 29:  “Wide ranged study with scientific as well as linguistic approach helped Sahityarathi Lakshmith Bezbaroa in establishing distinctly the Assamese language. The doyen of Assamese literature delivered a series of lectures in the sessions of contemporary ‘Asomiya Bhasha Unti Sadhini Sabha’. The great doyen of Assamese literature carried out a series of linguistic study on different languages and thereby streamlined the history of the Assamese language,” said Dr. Gayatri Devi Goswami, language-researcher and  Associate Professor, Department of Assamese-cum-Vice-Principal at MDK Girls’ College while delivering the  Sahityarathi Lakshmith Bezbaroa memorial  lecture on the topic ‘O moor suriya maat (O’ my melodious mother-tongue!)’ at DHSK Commerce College, organized by its Department of Assamese.

The programme, assisted by the Interl Quality Assurance Cell(IQAC) and women cell ‘Dharini’,was chaired by Dr  Khanindra Misra Bhagawati, Principal of the institution. Manoj Kr. Sarmah, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Assamese, Dibru College and Aniruddha Dutta, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Assamese, MDK Girls’ College, both graced the programme as special guests and urged upon the gathering to follow the ideals of the great literary doyen in respect of showing love to our mother-tongue.

 Dr. Khanindra Misra Bhagawati, chairperson of the programme, urged the new generation to follow the footprints of Bezbaroa in regard of patriotism, affection for mother-tongue as well as entrepreneurship ideas. Pulin Rajbongshi, Vice-Principal of the college, also attended the function and lauded the efforts made by Bezbaroa in establishing the Assamese language and in carrying out his literary activities amidst many a hurdles. bajyoti Dutta, Head of the Department of Assamese of the college, spoke on the aim and objectives of holding the programme.
