Newborn Abandoned Baby Rescued by GRP at Kamakhya Railway Station

Guwahati: A newborn baby boy was left out on a train on Wednesday night at around 10.30 pm.

The baby was recovered by the Government Railway Police (GRP) Kamakhya Unit from Up-bound Capital Express (13248) of coach number S5.

Speaking to The Sentinel Digital, I/C, Kamakhya GRP, Dinesh Medhi said, “We are yet to ascertain the fact that who are the parents of this newborn abandoned baby. We also suspect that the parents might have dumped the baby because of illegitimacy.”

Medhi also mentioned the baby was admitted in a Railway Central Hospital in Maligaon by the GRP officials.

“We have handed over the custody of the baby to The Childline NGO. Later, the management of the Childline protection centre took the abandoned baby with them,” Medhi added further.
