Newly-elected leaders of AASU felicitated

SIVASAGAR, April 12: “AASU is totally devoted for students’ development and the organization has pledged to work for the uplift of the Assamese people by uniting all communities of Assam,” said the newly-elected president of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Dipanka th.

Speaking at a felicitation ceremony for the newly-elected president and secretary of AASU by the All Sivasagar District Students’ Union at tya Mandir here on Saturday, th said, “We all must be united to destroy the evils from our society.”

The new general secretary of the students’ body, Lorin Jyoti Gogoi said, “AASU will go forward with education as its main subject, Besides, we will never let the sacrifice of 855 martyrs go in vain.” Gogoi futher disclosed that AASU would launch a cultural movement in the State soon.

The felicitation function was also attended by education secretary of the central committee of AASU, Sarat Hazarika, former AASU member Gopal Krish Das, newly-elected central executive member Jitumoni Bhuyan and Xatradhikar of Ujanial Xatra, Lakhikanta Mahanta.

Manik Gogoi, Sivasagar district president of AASU, delivered the welcome speech, while Gobin Phukan, general secretary of the district body anchored the entire programme.
