NIA investigates Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Qamar-uz-Zaman's case at Lanka PS

Guwahati: Following the investigation of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Qamar-uz-Zaman case, National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday examined some people today at Lanka Police station under Hojai District.

Speaking to The Sentinel Digital in this regard, Special DGP of Assam Police, Pallab Bhattacharya said that NIA examined some people at Lanka Police Station today. "It is a process of investigation, thus, a team of NIA had visited Lanka to investigate the case which they have registered against Hizbul Terrorist Qamar-uz-Zaman," said Pallab Bhattacharya.

As per previous reports, National Investigating Agency (NIA) took over the Qamar-uz-Zaman’s case considering its gravity in the month of October 2018.

Also, a police report in the month of October last, Qamar-uz-Zaman was brought to Assam for some ground-level investigations in order to arrest the suspected linkmen of Hizbul Mujahideen who are being allegedly operating in Assam.

It may be mentioned that Zaman was brought to Assam on a transit remand from Uttar Pradesh (as his arrest was executed outside the state Assam). He was later produced before the court on October 7, by a team of Assam Police led by DSP Hojai.
