Night vigation system on Brahmaputra soon

GUWAHATI, Feb 8: The State Government will very soon introduce night vigation system on the Brahmaputra.

Replying to a question by Congress MLA Sherman Ali, State Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said this in the Assembly. The Minister further added the government has also planned launching the Roll on Roll off (RoRO) service over the Brahamaputra river.

The RoRo service is an up-to-date vigation service designed to provide connectivity through river routs.

Patowary said that despite the Brahmaputra was declared a tural waterway No 2, the previous government did not pay any importance for the development of the river rout on the Brahmaputra.

“Many damaged vessels under Inland Water Transport Department were left abandoned without repair. Now we've started repairing these ships and the Central Government will also provide some new vessels. A number of new ferries will be operatiol on the Brahmaputra,” he said. Patoway further said that some new ferry ghats will be opened on the Bramaputra .
