No improvement of dilapidated Jogendra Nath Deka road at Doomdooma, Assam

A Correspondent

Doomdooma, July 20: Jogendra Nath Deka path which is an important subway connecting the main road on the west and the Nehru Road on the south is in dilapidated condition due to non-maintenance over the years. The road has importance because on the one hand it leads to Doomdooma 30-bedded FRU - an important government hospital for mother and child healthcare - and to Doomdooma Hoonlal HS School and Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya on the other besides housing some shops and one important path lab. During puja and some other festive occasions it is used as an alternate sub-way to reduce the traffic jam in the town. The water-logging is mainly due to unplanned construction by Doomdooma Town Committee (DDTC) in not providing proper drainage system on either side of the road. A memorandum was recently submitted jointly by Doomdooma Press Club and Doomdooma Senior Citizens Association to the chairman and executive officer, DDTC in this regard.
