DHUBRI, June 2: An extensive awareness campaign was organized by 17 Dogra Regiment of the Red Horns Division of the Army on the occasion of No Tobacco Day in BTAD and Dhubri district recently.

As a part of programme, a host of army officers addressed participants and spoke at a length on the ill effects of tobacco on health.

Apart from this, poster-making competitions were held at Gossaigaon Sr. Secondary High School, Government High School, Basbari, Jagmohan High School, Golakganj, Chilaray Jatiya School, N. Salmara and Kazai Kata School, Bilasipara.

Awareness rallies with posters and placards were also taken out at Gossaigaon, Basbari, Golokganj, North Salmara and Bilasipara.

Commandant of 17 Dogra Regiment , Col. Devraj Gill informed The Sentinel that besides local people and army jawans, over 1,200 students and 80 teachers participated in the programme and made the programme a success at all the venues.
