Non-Bodo Student Organizations Demand Review of BTC Accord

TANGLA: Various non-Bodo student organizations like the All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU), All Bodoland Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU), All Santhali Students’ Union (ASSU), All Kalita Students’ Union (AKSU) and BTC Nath Yogi Students’ Union (NYSU) staged a dharna at the Deputy Commissioner’ office in Udalguri for fulfilment of various demands, including review of the BTC Accord, 2003, and Sixth Schedule Amendment Act, 2003, on Friday. The activists raised slogans against the Union Territorial Council which they believed was proposed to replace the existing BTC set-up and warned that the organizations would never sit idle if the Union Government took the unilateral decision in this case and demanded to review the BTC Accord to know the truth. Later, the organizations submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister to this effect through the Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri district.
