North East Students’ Organization (NESO) Flays Amit Shah

GUWAHATI: The North East Students’ Organization (NESO) on Monday condemned the latest statement of the BJP president Amit Shah that his party would bring back the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill if it comes back to power at the Centre after the Lok Sabha elections.

“The statement is a clear reflection of the mindset which indicates that they (BJP) do not have any regard for the sentiments, emotions and welfare of indigenous people of the Northeast but rather their design is to reduce the microscopic indigenous communities to minority by flooding the region with illegal Bangladeshis to achieve their Hindutva objective,” a press communiqué issued by the chairman and the secretary general of NESO Samuel B. Jyrwa and Sinam Prakash Singh respectively on Monday evening said.

The communiqué stated that the NESO would never accept the draconian Bill and called upon the indigenous people of the region to thwart the BJP’s evil design to safeguard their identity, culture and language.

On other hand, the All Assam Students’ Union has termed Amit Shah’s statement as nothing but a desperate vote bank politics.
