Not a single culprit involved in Guwahati Grenade Blast will be spared: CM Sonowal

Guwahati: The Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday held a high-level meeting with the top officials of Assam police at the Janata Bhawan in connection to the Grenade Blast incident in Guwahati on Wednesday evening.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal directed Assam Director General of Police, Kuladhar Saikia and Additional Director General of police Mukesh Agarwal to conduct a thorough investigation in the bomb blast incident who were present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, speaking to the media in Guwahati, CM Sonowal said, “We condemned such heinous incidents. Not a single culprit involved in the Grenade Blast will be spared. DGP of Assam Police has been directed to conduct an investigation into the case.”

It is to be noted that Assam Police launched an operation in every nooks and corners of the city and apprehended two people in connection to the Guwahati Bomb Blast incident and recovered around 40 kg of explosives on Thursday evening.

One Pranmoy Rajguru and his suspected accomplice Jhanvi Saikia who is also said to be an (actress by profession) were reportedly operating from a house at Naamghar Path in Guwahati’s Panjabari area.

As per local people, both of the apprehended persons were residing in a house as a tenant. Sources informed the house belongs to one Saifuddin Ahmed.

It is to be noted that police also recovered one 9mm pistol along with 25 live ammunition, one ULFA-I notepad and one scooty bearing registration number AS 01 DQ 4420 from the spot.

It may further be mentioned that a fear psychosis gripped Guwahati city soon after the bomb blast in Guwahati’s zoo road near ‘Guwahati Central Mall’ at around 8 pm on Wednesday evening leaving at least 11 people injured on the spot.
