NRC update to start at Jorhat from March 27

JORHAT, March 26: The process of tiol Register of Citizens (NRC) update will start in

Jorhat district from March 27 in the 81 NRC Seva Kendras (NSK) in both the rural and urban areas. This was stated by the Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat Vasant Solanki Vishal at a press meet organized in Jorhat on Thursday.

Apprising media persons, DC Solanki said, “A free home-to-home distribution of forms will be undertaken from March 27 in the district. Accordingly 81 centres -17 in Jorhat East, 14 in Jorhat

West, 9 in Mariani, 12 in Teok, 15 in Titabor and 14 in Majuli have been set up under the District Registrar of Citizens Registration (DRCR) followed by (Additiol District Registrar of Citizen Registration (ADRCR) under ADC Dijen Singh, CRCR (Circle Registrar) under the Circle Officer and LRCR (Local Registrar) under a local representative supported by other

contractual employees of Data Entry Operators, Junior Assistants and a retired ADC Anta Kumar Barua who will be the District Resource Person and Debojit Dey, a contractual District Project Supervisor.”

He further said, “Taking records of the last NRC of 1951, electoral roll of 1966 and 1971, a digitized legacy data sections has been already created. March 24, 1971 has been determined as the last cut-off year. No illegal foreigner detected will be allowed to submit forms and will be deported subsequently.”

The DC further informed, “As a part of the Legacy Data entry every applicant has to produce one of the documents as determined by the government out of the 14 documents pertaining to Citizen Certificates, PRC (Permanent Residence Certificate), Refugee Registration Certificate, Passport, LIC Insurance Policy, any Government Certificate, Bank, Post Office Certificate, Village Panchayat Certificate, Court order/decree copy, Government/Public Sector appointment letter, birth certificate, Board/University Degree, Marriage Certificates and Ration Cards. However, marriage certificates will be considered as supporting documents and those ration cards

issued before the midnight of March 24,1971 will be considered as supporting documents and will have to be supported by any other certificate as mentioned earlier. It is only after the entry of this data that an automatic legacy Data Code will be generated which will have to be submitted with every form. Applications will be received throughout the month of May and extension may be decided by the government at a later stage. Verification of all entries will be completed in four months starting from July to September and on October 1 a draft resolution will be published. From October 1, claims and objections will be received and all such cases will be disposed of

in the month of November and December. And filly on January 1, 2016 the fil NRC will be published and only after the publication of the up-to-date NRC, will the government commence the AADHAR card process.”

For the convenience of the people a toll free number 15107 has been created and the people have been told to contact the BLO (Booth Level Officer) for more information and awareness about NRC. Also those residing outside Assam, India and abroad may avail the facility of online submission at www.nrcassam.nic.in along with the tech savvy people of the State. All entries should have a photograph of the main house holder along with a phone number through which acknowledgement IDs will be issued via sms.
