GOLAGHAT, April 28: In a unique gesture towards honouring parents of NRL Officers and their spouses and making them feel special, Kaliyani Club comprising of the Officers’ fraternity of NRL organized Parents Day, aptly med ‘Shroddha’ meaning respect recently.

During the morning hours, the parents gathered at the Kaliyani Club premises where they were accorded a warm welcome by MD NRL P Padmabhan followed by a self- introduction session. The parents accompanied by Kaliyani Club members were then taken on a trip to the Refinery plant area, Marketing Termil and Administrative Building, giving them a sneak peek into the workplace of their children employed in NRL.

While at the Central Control Room of the refinery, the parents were presented a brief overview of the Refinery and their enthusiasm could very well be judged by the barrage of questions that followed.

A special lunch was organized at the Refinery Canteen, giving parents another opportunity to run through a part of the daily work routine of their children, leaving lasting impressions in their minds.

Later in the evening, a function dedicated to the parents was organized at Kaliyani Club. NRL NRL Padmabhan thanked all the parents for their participation in the program, not forgetting to mention their sacrifices and immense contribution in moulding their children to take positions of responsibility in the Company and the society at large.

A peppy Bihu performance by their grandchildren was next in the agenda lighting up the faces of their grandparents which was followed by playing of NRL Corporate film, reflecting the ethos of the company and showcasing its various facets. A evening of melody unfolded thereafter where star singer of yesteryears Dwipen Barua entertained the crowd with his evergreen numbers, taking parents back to their youthful days of yore. ‘Whatever we have achieved in our lives is due to the sacrifices and blessings of our parents, which can never ever be repaid in a lifetime. This gesture of honoring them has given immense joy and happiness to our parents in their sunset years. Nothing gives parents more happiness than seeing their children do well in life’, was the sentiment echoed by Devraj Baisya, an NRL Officer who expressed delight on this novel initiative conceptualized and executed with equal finesse by Kaliyani Club Committee.
