GUWAHATI, June 19: The 76th round of National Sample Survey, conducted by National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India will give its main focus on persons with disability. During the inauguration of the regional training camp on 76th round of National Sample Survey in Guwahati on Tuesday, H Singh, ADG and Observer, North East Zone said that the survey will include collection of data and information about drinking water, sanitation, hygiene and housing condition.
Attending the inauguration programme, SDRD, Kolkata Director A Choudhury said that the data collected through the Socio Economic Survey (SES) will be used by the Central as well as the State Government for development, planning and policy decisions. “Incorrect information may lead to a wrong data base, which will result in faulty planning; hence emphasis will be given to reduce error committed during data entry, Choudhury said.
The nationwide socio economic survey is going to be conducted from July 1 to December 31. In this connection, a two-day regional training conference will be organized followed by field training and administrative discussion on June 21 and 22 for imparting training on concepts, definitions and procedure for collecting information on different subjects.
The NSSO, Field Operation Division is the primary data collection wing of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. It collects primary data regularly through nationwide household surveys on various socio- economic subjects. Data collection on the various subjects is made through its rounds of surveys using scientific sampling methods since its inception in 1950.
Senior level officers from Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Field Operation Division and Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Government of Assam will be present in the training programme.
