Nuruddin Inter District Cricket To Begin From May 25

GUWAHATI: The next edition of the Senior Inter District Cricket for Nuruddin Trophy will kick off from May 25 in different venues in the state. The competition would be concluded on June 30.

Disclosing the news to the media the secretary of the Assam Cricket Association Devajit Saikia today said, “After successful completion of the Assam Premier Club Cricket Championship, where altogether 320 clubs participated, Assam Cricket Association Is now all set to host the senior Inter District Cricket Championship. 39 teams will participate in the meet and all the matches, except final, would be two-day affairs. The duration of final is three-day.

He also disclosed the venues of preliminary matches. Jorhat and Charaideo will host the matches of Upper Assam Zone. Nagaon and Bokakhat would be the venues for Central Assam Zone matches while Barpeta and Bongaigaon would host the matches of Lower Assam zone. Tezpur and Viswanath Chariali have been selected as the venues for Northern Assam zone. Silchar and Karimaganj would host all the matches of the South Assam Zone while Head quarter zone would have three venues-NFRSA, Judges field (Guwahati) and Goalpara.

Meanwhile Assam Cricket Association has decided to organize two coaching camps for the junior cricketers of the state. The first camp, which would be for U-16 crickets, will begin on May 21 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium. It would be followed by U-19 years cricket camp from June 6. Duration of both the camps will be 15-day each and four coaches-Subhrajit Saikia, Sandipan Devnath, Arlen Konwar and Rajib Rajbangshi will supervise the camps.

Saikia informed that all the affiliated units of the Assam Cricket Association can send four players in each camp. He also added: “A three-member talent hunts committee, comprising of veteran coach Dhiraj Das, Pranab Barua and Manajit Das also constituted by the Assam Cricket Association and they will be the part of these two camps.”
