NYAY scheme is a surgical strike on poverty: Rahul Gandhi

Guwahati: Congress President Rahul Gandhi said on Friday that the NYAY scheme is a surgical strike on poverty and allayed fears that the salaried middle class would have to foot the bill which he said would be entirely funded with the money that thieves like Anil Ambani have plundered with Narendra Modi's help.

Addressing a rally at North Bihar town, Gandhi launched a fresh attack on the NDA government at the centre and coined a slogan 'Kuch nahi sab jhootha hai, Narendra Modi be loota hai' (all promises are proven false and that Narendra Modi has robbed people of whatever they had.)

Gandhi shared the stage for the first time in North Bihar with RJD heir apparent Tejashwi Yadav and also deplored the insulting treatment meted out to the jailed supremo of his alliance partner and warned the BJP-led coalition of a backlash in the polls.

Rahul Gandhi further said that the NYAY scheme will be entirely funded with the money that thieves like Anil Ambani have plundered with the help of the Prime Minister.

Gandhi also made fun of the Prime Minister for making military operations carried out after the terror attacks in Uri and Pulwama saying that it is a poll plank. He also said that Modi carries teleprompter wherever he goes to deliver his speeches and he keeps getting orders from above don't talk about employment adding that he should not mention the Rs. 15 lakh which he had promised to remit into accounts of every poor Indian. "You may be booed. Keep harping on surgical strikes," said Gandhi.

He further said that if the Congress is voted to power, they ensure that no farmer was sent to jail for defaulting on loans. Gandhi said to Modi, "You are welcome to help people like Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya flee the country after defaults but we stand for the common people, farmers and the working class. And we should share their burden."
