Amiya Changkakoti

Amiya Changkakoti, a loving and religious lady of Rukminigaon, Guwahati passed away on June 11 at a city hospital due to old-age ailments and a sudden cardiac arrest. Born in Dibrugarh town, she was the fifth child of the tea planter late Basanta Kumar Baruah and late Jiva Kanti Baruah of Malbhog Baruah Tea Estate Pvt Ltd group, and the granddaughter of late Malbhog Baruah of Dibrugarh district. She was one of the founder members of the Dispur Law College and also served as the Joint Secretary of the Dispur Capital Campus Mahila Samity during 1973-78. She was married to late Jogananda Changkakoti (IAS Retd) who predeceased her in 2016.
