One arrested for spreading Fake Social Media Rumours at Hailakandi

HAILAKANDI, July 26: A person named Sabir Sahu of Mohanpur was arrested on Thursday for spreading rumours on NRC in social media. This was disclosed by SP Mohneesh Mishra in a press meet convened by Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan today.

Khan said altogether 7,07,857 applications were received for inclusion in NRC. In the part draft NRC 2,22,227 applicants were included which accounted to 31 per cent. SP Mishra said adequate forces are available to tackle any law and order situation.

He said stringent action will be taken against rumour mongers. Mishra said the administration is constantly monitoring social media. Section 144 has also been promulgated in the entire district.
