One arrested on charges of Child Molestation in Bamunjali of Udalguri

TANGLA: At a time when the State is witnessing a rise in cases of crime against women, the molestation of a six-year-old girl in Bamunjali under Dimakuchi PS in Udalguri has created a sensation in the area.

Reportedly, the accused Azagar Ali, a mason by profession, was engaged in some work in the Bamunjali area for the past couple of days. The accused allegedly molested the minor girl of the neighbourhood on Thursday. When the girl cried for help, her mother rushed to save her.

The infuriated locals beat the accused before handing him over to Dimakuchi police. The family members lodged an FIR and a case under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, and IPC has been registered. An investigation is on. The heinous crime has evoked strong protest, with local student organizations demanding stringent punishment.
