One dies, five injured in road mishaps

SHILLONG, April 28: A person while another one injured when a Maruti Alto car (AS-23-C – 6226) heading towards Dawki from Guwahati hit a divider and overturned. The incident happened on the Shillong by-pass road at Nongtraw under Umsning Block, Ri Bhoi District today at 7.03 am. In another incident a driver of a TATA Sumo (AS-01-EC – 5810) proceeding towards Guwahati from Shillong sustained injuries today when the vehicle overturned after it skidded at Umbang under Umsning Block in Ri Bhoi district. The victim identified as Lorice Khan (45) was later shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital.

Meanwhile, a passenger of a Maruti Alto and two shopkeepers sustained injuries when a truck collided with the Maruti Alto and a shop on the side of the road at Sumer under Umsning Block in Ri Bhoi District today.

The Silchar bound Maruti Alto from Guwahati was about to resume it journey after a brief stop for sck when the collision happened. The victims identified as Biswajit Kaur (33), Magrita Lyngdoh Nonglait (26) and Sandy Kharmuti (30) were shifted to Umsning CHC. However later Biswajit Kaur was shifted from Umsning CHC to Shillong Civil Hospital.
