One gets lifer for murder

Rangia, May 10: The Additiol District and Session Judge (fast track court) Rangia, Dibya Jyoti Mahanta sentenced Kishor Deka of village Dagaon under PS Kamalpur in Kamrup district to rigorous imprisonment for life and another period of 5 years including fine of Rs 1,000 vide session case no 364/14 under section 364A/302/201 IPC on Tuesday. According to the verdict, Kishor Deka murdered his friend Bikash Kalita, son of kul Chandra Deka, Assistant Teacher of Suhagpur High School, Baksa on February 12, 2014 near Baihata Railway Station and threw the body on the railway track of the station to prove the murder either as an accident or suicide. But a message to the mobile phone of the father of Bikash Kalita demanding Rs 50,000 changed the course of investigation. After that, OC Rangia GRPF arrested Kishor Deka on the basis of suspicion on March 19, 2014. Police also arrested Nirmal Das, friend of accused Kishor Deka but he was acquitted and set free. However, he was directed by the court to furnish bail bond of Rs 10,000 with one suitable surety amount for a period of six months till then he is allowed to remain in previous bail. According to the father of the victim, Kishor Deka confined Bikash Kalita in a piggery firm near the railway station on February12, 2014 and after killing him brutally, the body was thrown on the railway line. Additiol Public Prosecutor Hiranya Kumar Choudhury pleaded for victim and advocate Chidanda Deka for the accused. The victim’s family expressed satisfaction at the verdict.
