One killed in jumbo attack at Demow

DEMOW: Rinku Tanti (32) died after he was attacked by an elephant on Saturday in Sarugua near the Sarugua Forest Beat Office. Rinku Tanti was a fish seller and he had gone near the Demow River in Ujantali along with his friends for fishing. Rinku and his friends were attacked by a wild elephant on Saturday.

Rinku was killed by the elephant but his three friends managed to save their lives. Manuroma Morang, Demow Circle Officer, and Mubid Ali, Forest Officer of Sivasagar Forest Department, immediately reached the area and took stock of the situation. Mubid Ali, Forest Officer of Sivasagar Forest Department, paid Rs 5,000 as compensation from the Forest Department immediately.
